when i clear my history, there are still some sites stored
in the address pull-down menu. sometimes it is sites i
have visited several times. other times it seems to be
random, like saving google-searches or something. has
anyone else had a similar problem and know how to fix it?
any help would be much appreciated.

thanks.

yeah, i tried that. i can turn it off, which i guess
solves the problem (albeit in a way that causes a problem
by solving one...), but even if i clear the cache of
remembered sites, it still doesn't fix the problem. any
other ideas? thanks.

Have you tried IE-Tools-Internet Options-Content- AutoComplete?

Alan,
Have the same problem. I took your advice and the web addresses are still there. Have run a search on my hard drive and cannot find it on my hardrive. I've thought about just deleting Explorer and starting over, but I removed it from my Add/Remove program and there are still several versions. I'm running Windows XP. I don't like the fact that people can put things on my computer that I can'd delete.

Thanks in advance.

Stan

Stan,
You probably have a corrupted History folder.

Delete the damaged History folder- a new one will be created on restart.

Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder in Windows 9x,2K, XP.

Also, if these entries seem to have been placed on your computer without any
action on your part:

Also note security tips on that page.

Hope this helps,
