i have a fairly new compaq presario and it comes with hi-speed usb 2.0
ports... well i had xp home and i installed xp professional, the ports work
fine as a regular 2.0 port but not hi-speed. when i plug in a device that
needs to use a 2.0 hi-speed usb the computer says something along the lines
of "warning you havent entered a hi-speed device into a non-hi-speed usb."
can anybody help me please.

You must have at least SP1 installed in order to have USB 2.0 capability.

Open device mgr.,locate the usb controller,R.click on it,then select update
drivers, then close out.SP1 does include updated drivers but one usually needs
to physically install them.
