My system was infected by the CoolWebSearch hijacker last week. It took a
few different tools, but CWS Shredder finally removed it. Since removing
it, when I click on a download link (usually a .zip file) the download
manager does not open up. Instead, I just get a message saying "Page cannot
be displayed." I can successfully download by right clicking and selecting
"Save target as...."

Is there any way to restore this to normal functioning? I have IE6 and SP1
installed on WinXP Home Edition.

TIA -

If at any point in your attempts to fix the original problem you disabled
third-party browser enhancements, re-enable them. (Tools | Internet Options
| Advanced)
