HDD errors in Win XP installation

I've just built a computer with an Athlon 64 3200+, a
chaintech sk8t800 mobo, and a Hitachi 160gb 7200rpm Serial
ATA HDD.

Near the start of the installation Windows informs me that
there is no hard drive, however in the BIOS's RAID control
my HD is shown. I saw this question asked on one of the
pay for answers sites, however if anyone here could answer
for free that would be greatly appreciated.
