I installed a new WD HD of 250 GB. At first I did a 150 GB partition
and two 50s, but only the 150 showed up in windows. Then I changed that to
5 50's, but now only 3 50's show in windows. I read about a possible
barrier at around 137 GB, but having XP SP-1 should have gone around that.
It shows as 250 GB in BIOS and 250 GB in Device Manager with no conflicts.
However; in DM it only shows 3 50 GB partitions and shows the remaining as
unallocated even though they should be in 2 50 GB partitions.
Does anyone have any more experience with this?

Nevermind I found the answer myself after awhile. For anyone else
having these issues, for me it was an update of the Intel Application
Accelerator. Now it all works fine:-)

This likely won't help, but on an older PC that came with Windows ME Op. Sys.
Fat32, I added XP, Ntfs. In Xp I could see & access all partitions, but in ME
could not see Ntfs. Defaulting the OS to ME, with no delay called for on start up
to select one OS or the other, one would never know that XP is there at all unless
they hit F8 on start up.

To use a disk bigger than 137 GB decimal, 128 in the binary base used in
the system, you need not only XP SP1, but also a BIOS and controllers on
the motherboard that support '48 bit LBA' to give enough possible values
for the sector number on the disk to get beyond this point. As well as
XP SP1. So it looks as if you do not have this - look to see if there
is a BIOS upgrade for your motherboard - otherwise you can get a plug in
PCI card for it, eg by Promise
