Hard Drive causing Event Viewer 11 Errors

In addition to the constant errors being flagged and not
able to get much info from Compaq, The hard drive was
constantly starting and stopping. I eliminated the virus
protection, firewall and printer,mouse and keyboard as
being the culprits. It still starts and stops. Does
anyone have any ideas? I recently reformatted the drive
and reloaded original software including Win XP home. I
have a notebook 1.3 Ghtz with 513 ram, 30 gig HD Model is
the Compaq Presario 2715US. Thank You in advance.
