Hi

On my website (below) I have a Picture Gallery to which I add bird images
from members. Occasionally some images appear with a grid superimposed on
the image (see Great Norther Diver - the first and second in the list.)
Why might this happen?

I receive the images from members by email, I manage them in Paint Shop
Pro 8 :crop, resize, sharpen etc., save to desktop as jpg files, insert into
correct position in Frontpage 2002. (Occasionally I use Cut and Paste for
the process.) There is no problem with the image in Frontpage at this stage.

I then Publish the pages but still some images have the grid displayed.

Help please

Howdy.

This is most likely the problem. You should always:

1. Save the edited pciture to a file.
2. Drag the file from Windows Explorer and drop it into
the FrontPage folder list.
3. Drag the file from the FrontPage folder list
and drop it onto your Web page.

When you paste a picture into FrontPage and then get the
Save Embedded Files dialog box, FrontPage 2002 uses a
relatively crude set of tools for converting the picture
from Windows display format to JPEG. That's probably where
your grid is coming from.

BTW, the same problem occurs if you resize pictures in
FrontPage. Always do your resizing in a real picture
editor, then save a new file, add the file to FrontPage,
and then add it to your Web page.

This problem, BTW, is much reduced in FP2003.
