Graphics convert to dat files

I recently upgraded to Outlook 2003, since then I get constant complaints
that any graphics I attach cannot be opened. _ They have been converted to
something called XXX.dat - Apparently this problem is pretty much limited to
those who do not use outlook as their mail reader.

How can I prevent this conversion, or do I have to go back to an older
version of Outlook to send graphics to everyone?

Change your message format from Rich Text to HTML or Plain Text.

I have tried changing to HTML, Rich Text and Plain Text, all have the same
results... Anyone not using Outlook gets email with the graphic converted to
a .dat that they cannot open.

What account type are you using?
Is the message actually received in that format as well (especially when
using Plain Text)?
Open the contact from your Contacts folder-> right click the e-mailaddress->
Outlook Options-> make sure it is not set to Rich Text.
