gdi32.dll error

I have a software that reports a n error in module gdi32.dll, the software have been working before on the same system, but stoped for a few days ago

I have been in contact with the software developer, but they have no clue so far

How do I replace the gdi32.dll in the easiest way
Is it easy to get from the XP recovery CD. (The computer is a Fujitsu Simens lifebook

Anyone with any solutions?

The bigest problem is knowing where this dll is supposed to be. You can go to all sorts of sites and get the dll by simply downloading it but you need to know if it belongs in the system32 folder or the drivers folder or the windows folder and so on. Try going start\run and type in regsvr32 gdi32.dll and then hit ok. Be sure to put the space after regsvr32 . You could also attempt this command regsvr32 /i gdi32.dll and see what happens.
