When I install some of the latest games on my pc I get a message saying
'DVD Emulation software has been detected on your system, please disable
and try again' Now no matter what I do I cant get the games to work. I
have some dvd burning programs on my pc but none of them are running.
Usually a no cd patch sorts out the problem but I dont like using them.
The latest couple of games this has happened on have been Far Cry and
United Offensive.
Anyone got any ideas or suffering from the same ?
TIA

Running P4 / 3.0Ghz / 1024RAM / Radeon9800 / WinXP

This doesn't refer to DVD burning software but rather to virtual drive
software, like Alcohol.

You must have some CDROM/DVDROM emulation software installed, perhaps as
part of one of your burning applications. CDROM/DVDROM emulation
software is an attempt to circumvent the requirement of inserting the
game disc by allowing you to copy the game CD contents to a folder and
then emulate that folder as a CDROM/DVDROM drive. Many games are
designed to require the insertion of the game CD as a method of
thwarting piracy, and some of the modern games will detect such
emulation software even if it is not actively running and not run as a
result.
