I know that I will be getting an upgrade for my computer now, but I have also realised that my fx 5200 will not play the games that I want and it will be the bottleneck in my computer.

well, I was searching my local stored site and saw this
http://www.web-systems.co.uk/?page=Products&pid=1144
a GALAXY FX 5900 128 MB DDR 8X AGP TV/DVI for £177

wow, they are getting very cheap, has anyone had experience with a galaxy brand?

considering I paid £60 for a fx 5200, the 5900, is like 4x better than it, but only 3x the price ;)

the truth is so many people have viewed this thread but none has replied.

well ive never even heard of galaxy but i guess nor have the others?:)

i got fx5200 its a great top class board man!!!!

Kalbal,

Just buy it kid, it's the only way to really find out what there made of!, let me know.

It's cheaper cos the FX 5950 Ultra's out but thats about £300!

Regards

It is certainly a better card than the FX5200, but only if you will really take advantage of it. ;)

These graphics cards will reduce in price over the coming months as a battle heats up before the next wave of PC Games hits the shelves. There are some big titles coming out in 2004, which will need a high end card if you want to play them at full detail.

5200....a top class board, u got to be joking. playing ut2003 and mohaa with dx8 is very nice indeed 50-60fps , i install dx 9 to play need for speed and worms 3d it runs ok, as soon as i go onto mohaa or ut2003 i get 20-30fps, dx 9 slows this card down, its just not powerful enough.

I have found Galaxy's Website here: http://www.gfe.com.hk/pd_gffx59.asp

seems to be a nice card, the fx 5200 (or mine) scores 4100 on 3dmark2001se, probably 6000+ with a good system. an fx 5900 can manage 18,000+ in a good system....see what i mean ;)

That is strange... I've got a friend with an FX5200 in a system less than yours with DX9 and it runs MOHAA great. Are you running it with full anti-aliasing enabled?

no, i make sure i dont run any kind of antialaising, simpy because the card can't take it. I would love to play it will it all enabled tho.

i know, since ATI taking the crown as top graphics card maker the FX series has dropped in price dramaticly. I still want a fx 5900 tho, can't wait now!

personally...id go down the ati 9800 se route,,,
it soft mods up to pro standard////
u can have everything on it then..
connect3d do a 9800 se (@ Microdirect that does this job perfectly...
164 quid inc vat...

already got a tyan 9600 pro... does what i want it to do...unless your interested in facts and figure from benchmarkin... but that dont impress me....

hmm, good point, but i would still go with the 5900, i have never seemed to do well with online stores (no credit card) so a local store does the 5900, i aint fussed.

has anyone got a fx 5900?......i want to see hat the performance gain over a fx 5200 would be like from som1 who has 1 :D
