I was wondering if the AMD FX-53 is any good, is it better than a Pentium 4 EE?
Just wondering.

uncomparable as the AMD is 64bit and the Intel is 32bit.

both have similar performance at 32bit.

you've got to ask yourself why you want a 64bit processor, then you will have your answer. which is best for you.

Lets just list...

FX-53:

Future proof 64-bit processor.
Blistering fast performance.
Reasonable heat/wattage and retail sink is actually quite good.
Costs just over £500.

P4 EE:

32 bit. That's it.
Blistering fast GAMING performance.
Huge heat & wattage output. Retail sink is about as useful as a choccy fireguard.
Costs nearly a £1000.

Now.. tell me. Which seems better ?

The modified P4 Northwood with extra cache. Optimised for "gaming".. because most "gamers" will buy £1000 processors.... or the 32/64bit dual compatible, low wattage, next generation FX that is almost half the price of the previous generation Intel part?

Dum de dum.

Costs nearly a grand!?!?! More close to the £750 mark here: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/prod...2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=59538

£677 Here: http://www.dabs.com/uk/Search2/Product+Details.htm?quicklinx=3141&searchphrase=extreme

but none the less, still very very pricey!

From what i've read, the P4 EE is the fastest processor out at the moment, because there is nothing to take advantage of the 64 bit technology yet.

It has incredible overclocking potential too, if you have some spare liquid nitrogen tanks around, you can overclock one of these to over 4500Mhz!

If it was my money though, I would no doubt go with the FX-53, becuase of the future proof 64 bit technology and the price. The AMD 3800 64+ is a good competator to the FX-53 and is cheaper too.
