My Dell Dimension (Windows XP) floppy drive cannot read
floppy disks created by Windows 98 machines and Windows
98 machines cannot read floppy disks created on my
machine. Dell advises that Windows 98 uses a FAT file
system for floppies and Windows XP uses a NFTS file
system which makes the floppies incompatible. Can anyone
confirm this and advise if there is a workaround?
Thanks, Ken Burenga

Nice piece of BS, but no relation to the truth. Floppies use their
own FAT based format, with no dependence on what the Hard
drive is formatted to. Usually, when floppies exhibit incompatibility
from drive to drive, it's a matter of head alignment of one unit.
The only way to correlate which one is off, is by use of a third
drive. Format one from each and take it to the 3rd PC. Which
ever disk is readable & formatable - It's the other one that has
head alignment issues. $15 to replace
