Fix Favorites/Bookmarks?

I don't know if this is an IE or a Word issue, so I will post in two boards.
Is there a way to keep my "favorites" in Word from showing up when I want my
"favorites" in IE? Somebody in Redmond evidently imagines a world in which
Word and the interner merge seamless. But I am not there yet--and a long way
away, too. As far as I am concerned, Word bookmarks are great and so are
IE's. But for my purposes they are unrelated. It is profoundly annoying to
have to wade through a million Word bookmarks when I am searching for my
bookmark for, say, THIS site. Is there a way to separate the two?

To be honest Al, I don't think you can separate the two. If you hear
differently in a Word newsgroup please advise.

Hint: Next time cross-post instead of multiposting so that we can all share
the answer immediately.

How does one cross-post?

Which portal are you using?

Apparently on the IE portal (at least for New Messages)
you can click on Advanced Options (at the bottom)
which opens up a small window labeled:
Cross-post to these discussion groups
Underneath the box there is the direction to:
(use full USENET designation)

That means that you need to know the proper NNTP newsgroup name.
That detail is slightly hidden from users of the web interface.
However, you can discover it by opening a newsgroup and extracting
it from the resulting URL in the Address bar. For example, in this one
the newsgroup name is given between the dg= and the &lang=
keywords:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie...indows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser&lang=en&cr=US

So, if you're not sure of the other newsgroup name(s), you would have
to open a window for each one and find the proper newsgroup name,
copy it out of the Address bar and paste it into that list.

The window doesn't make clear whether you are being given the chance
to build a completely new NNTP newsgroups header or if what you enter
there will be concatenated to the entry which would normally have been
generated if you had not used this feature. It also doesn't specify what
the separator character should be if you do need to give more than one
newsgroup name in order to cross-post. FYI it is usually a comma+blank.

Hmm... the web interface Help clarifies things somewhat ;o
<quote>
To post in more than one discussion group, click Advanced Options
in the New Question, New Comment, or Reply form,
and then type the additional discussion groups you want to post to in the
Cross-post to these discussion groups box.
Use a comma (,) between discussion group names.
</quote>

So the implication is that you should not repeat the newsgroup name
of the one you are posting from. That at least eliminates the uncertainty
about the separator when cross-posting to two newsgroups. ;)

I think you will find Sandi's suggestion easier provided you can use
a real NNTP newsreader such as Outlook Express.

Good luck
