I have a router with a firewall builted in. I turned off
the firewall in xp sp2. But everytime I boot my machine
it tells me that I might be at risk and that ms firewall
is turned off. Is there away to turn this message off?
I know that xp's firewall is turned off.

A router firewall will only protect against incoming.. it does not make you
aware of what your computer is saying to the outside world.. get a software
firewall.. Zonealarm is as good as any..

go to control panel and security center , click on "recommendations" under
firewall and check "monitor myself"

Hi

Control Panel/Security Center, click on the "Change the Way
Security Center Notifies Me" link in the left pane.

If changing the options in security center doesn't stick, which many
times it doesn't, then disable the security center service in services.

John
Go under Services in the Administrative Tools and Stop the
Windows Firewall AND the Security Center. Then set them
both to disabled.
