Original Post:

Having a problem with my firewall. I am trying to enable
it. I go thru the whole process of setting up and when it
tells me to restart the computer I do. When i log back on
the firewall is not enabled anymore. Please help.

I don't know what instructions your following. but if you
want to turn the firewall on juust:
1. get to the network connection that you want to turn th
efirewall on by going thru the network control panel
2. right click on the network connection you want and
select properties.
Select the advanced tab and check the enable firewall.
Select OK.
restart

Hello,

I read your initial post, but found myself unable to
help.I did not know what you meant when you said you'd
enabled it,but when you reboot find it no longer enabled.

Since it concerns XP's inbuilt, let's start with:Do you
click "apply" after ticking the box "protect my
computer...."?

If you do-what's happening?Is the check/tick vanishing?
What is it that shows you it is no longer enabled? Is it
hanging on start up (If you've pinged the system via Help
And Support Centre)?

Those are the exact instructions I followed. After I
reboot I go in the network connection again and the tick
for "enable firewall" on the advanced tab is no longer
ticked.

I followed the exact instructions as mentioned in Kevin's
response. After applying it I reboot. I go in to check to
see if it worked and the "tick" for protecting my
computer is no longer there. I even went to the Windows
website for 1,2,3 steps to protect your computer. It asks
me if I want the firweall enabled and I say yes. Once
again after rebooting it does not show up saying that is
enabled.
