I am trying to enable file sharing. XP Professional. I
can see the other computer in My Network Places but when
I click on the computer name, I get this message:

Logon failure: the user has not been granted the
requested logon type at this computer.

Greetings Dwight,

Go to Administrative Tools and open the Local Security Policy. Expand 'User
Rights Permission' in the left pane and Double click on "Deny access to this
computer from the network." Is there anyone in there besides Support and
Guests?

Also, in the Local Security Policy, double-click "Access this computer from
the network." What users are allowed to access the computer?

If the Guest account is disabled, it might help creating an indentical user
and
password that the other machine uses.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have problems changing
the local security problem on the sharing computer. It
allows me to make the changes but when I click Apply it
says it won't save my changes. Do you know why?
