I've got a rogue icon on my desktop that keeps
reappearing after I've deleted it - it's a link to a
website. The file path shows the above file MSA64CHK.dll -
can I delete it safely, is this the problem file?

Yes you need to get rid of it. It is related to Spyware. However, just
deleting it will probably not get rid of it.
Here is a link I found in a Goggle search.
http://www.2-spyware.com/file-msa64chk-dll.html

Download both of the these programs:
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org - FAQ, help & Forum @ site.
Ad-aware - http://www.lavasoft.de/ - FAQ, help & Forum @ site.

*Important* Check for UPDATES immediately after you download and before you
scan.
*Important* - Turn OFF System Restore. You can enable it after you have
cleaned your computer of the Spyware.

I've downloaded both programs - thanks. How do I
temporarily switch off System Restore whilst running the
programs?

Jeremy

Right click on My Computer, in the popup menu click on properties- go to the
tab System Restore - check Turn Off System Restore On All Drives - hit
apply - hit ok.
