I am working on a persons PC that had XP issues. I tried to install XP Home and / or XP Pro onto this PC and got the same results. I did the install this way: Fdisk'd it & formatted the drive with a WIN98 boot disk. I booted from a WIN98 disk & then ran i386\winnt.exe from the cdrom. I had smart drive issues, but I have resolved this I believe. With the smart drive issue gone, now, shortly after the setup starts, I get 'the copy made by setup of the file listed below is not identical to the original. This may be the result of network errors, floppy disk or other related hardware.' I would like to know what this error could mean and how to resolve it. My temporary solution was partitioning & creating a D: drive and then copying the i386 directory to it and then running the install from there but this takes a very long time. Thanks in advance for your help.
