You need a FAX/Modem. If you are on DSL then you will need a microfilter on the FAX/Modem.

In addition...
If you post to UseNet with your TRUE, not a munged, email address then you have invited the
swen Internet worm to visit you.

The Swen is news spelled backwards. The reason it is called this is because the Swen worm
harvests email addresses from UseNet News Groups. It has an engine that allows it to post
itself to UseNet News Groups and well as it has its own email engine. From the list of
email addresses that it has harvested, it will then email itself to those addresses.

What kind of broadband - cable or dsl? If you want to pay for faxing there
are services that will do it for you if you have cable broadband. Search
goggle for cable faxing. If you want to fax for free, fire up that old modem
and use the telephone line. If you have dsl an a/b switch or filter will
work fine to fax using the phone line and a regular modem.

FAX is either using a modem on the phone line (that can be
connected even with the broadband) or you need to use a fax
service that will actually do the faxing (for a fee) for
you.

Most cable/DSL ISPs have a FAQ about faxing and may offer a
package deal.

If not, do a Google for "internet fax service"

These companies will take your uploaded fax, send it on
their phone system, accept replies on their phones (they
offer you a choice of numbers, local or an 800 number,
customer convenience) and email you a notice of faxes you
get and attach replies.

Monthly and per item fees apply.

An A/B switch is contraindicated on a DSL line. A microfilter before the FAX/Modem is the
method to be used.

Faxes are sent over the regular telephone lines, not the Internet. So
your Internet connection has nothing to do with this function. You
need a FAX-capable (normal, telephone) modem to which you connect your
plain old telephone line.
