Favicons Dissapearing After Bookmarked?

On IE6 in a Win98SE computer, it seems that a bookmark's favicon icon
disappears sometime after I bookmark it. I'll drag a bookmark to the link
bar, & I'll see the new bookmark and it's nice little associated icon. But
sometime later, after a reboot, or restart of IE6, the bookmark will still
be there but the nice little icon will revert to the IE default (white
document with the blue 'e'). I can delete the bookmark & then bookmark it
all over again, and get the icon, but then I'll lose the icon again.

This happens with *everything* I bookmark.

Any ideas how I can stop this from happening?

Thanks!

The icons are stored in your browser cache and are deleted when you empty
the cache. You need a program such as FavOrg to maintain them.

I don't know why it's happening, but it's also happening to me on IE6
using WinXP Pro.

They are not permanent and are stored in your temporary Internet files
folder.
If your Temporary Internet Files folder is deleled, your favicons will be
lost.

Favicons are not native to Internet Explorer.

They are usually lost when you delete your Temporary Internet Files.

The easiest method to retain these is to install a 3rd party utility that will
store and maintain these in your system.

One excellent utility is called FavOrg. It used to be freeware from PC MAG, but
now requires a yearly subscription to download from them. You can read about it
here:

PC Magazine's FavOrg v1.2

There are other free download sources on the web. Here are a few:
