F8 function key use

My daughter inadvertently hit the F10 key on the bootup screen invoking a
System Recovery. Can I now use the F8 key to go back to a previous bootup
date before she did that to allow me to access programs I installed that I
currently cannot without reinstalling them?

Normally the answer is NO, you can not. But, it depends on WHAT F10 and F8
do according to the OEM version of software you have. The mfg might have
created some special features that would only be known by having the
documentation for the computer.
Normally F8 is simply to get into the boot menu options; it sounds like
it might be doing something different on your system?

I think the odds are against you but check the documentation anyway, jsut in
case, especially if this is one with the Restore info all kept in a special
location on the disk drive.

What exactly happened after she hit F10? Did it reinstall the OS clean? If
so then no you can't go back, except if you have an image backup such as
through Acronis True Image or Ghost. If not then you'll need to reinstall
all applications from original media and restore data from a backup.
