Explorer always displays "Page cannot be found!" page

Hi,

I've got a little problem.... my IE 6 will not let me see any pages! I can
type in a web address, and it will show me the page for a split second, and
then it will show me a "Page cannot be found!" error page. At one point, I
had been on a webpage for about 5 minutes and it took me from there to the
error message. No matter what I do, I can't view a webpage without it showing
me this error message!!! Does anyone know what the problem is??

I have similar problems:
1) if I launch iexplorer.exe from the Internet Explorer folder, I get the
'page not found' message
2) if I rename the iexplorer.exe to something (e.g. iexplorer-old.exe), and
launch the renamed .exe, it works OK
3) Within 5 seconds after I have rename the iexplorer.exe to something else,
a copy of the iexplorer.exe appears in my Internet Explorer folder..???

any suggestions????

iexplorer.exe is spyware (the MS file is iexplore.exe).
First eliminate any spyware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
