Exchange Public Folder - Copy all Public folder to a local PST fil

Hi,

I have an exchange 2003 server and wish to copy all exchange public folders to a local PST file (local folder) on one of my local PC's. Is there a utility that would do this as an automated task, from within outlook or any other way.

I know I can just drag the folders manualy but I wanted to backup these public folders to a PST file at regular intervals (daily/weekly). This is a secondary backup I would like to do. I also do tape backups on my exchange server. If I tell someone to do this manually I fear they may move the folder accidentally or manage to screw something up.

I have an OST but correct me if I am wrong this will not be good if my exchange server crashes. I cant just copy this back. I would like an exact replica of this data.

Please point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

Syncing them to the OST is probably the best automated way unless you use
code.

Do you have a sample of the code. I am suprised this isn't something that is more popular or easier to do. Also I am not confident thaT I understand that the OST can be restored to a server that is newly installed after a crash.

Can you provide more info?

I appreciate your reponse.

I don't have any code samples, as I don't see a need to backup my folders
twice - the server backup is enough for me.

to restore the items from an ost to a crashed server, set OL offline and
copy the items to a pst, then connect to the server and copy them back.

How do you set the OL offline. The Offline folder settings "disable offline use" is greyed out. Is this the right setting.

File, offline menu or in the account properties (where you are looking)
there is an option to start offline, which might be safer in the case of a
server problem.

In your folder list, drag the public folders to the PF\favorites.

I agree with Diane - if you're getting good Exchange backups, this probably
isn't necessary for disaster recovery purposes.

offline use" is greyed out. Is this the right setting.
