Hi I have an excel workbook that just hangs after doing a fill. Anyone know of a bug in 2003 that would cause this.

Hi simon,

I am not very clear about your scenario. What fill are you doing, putting data from one database into the workbook or inputting data manually? It will
be appreciated you tell me more information concerning this hang. Furthermore, you can also check this article for one hang scenario.
832334 Excel 2003 stops responding or you receive an error message when you

Well guess what, I can't reproduce it now.

The scenario was copy a sheet to the same workbook, rename
it. The first sheet had a column of values EPFUG001,
EPFUG002 etc. for 100 rows. In the copied sheet change the
first value to EPFUC001 and do an autofill down (double
click on the little box). Now try and enter a value in
column 2. Excel would hang when exiting the box.

Another unanswered mystery.

Hi Simon,

I have tested with your reproduce steps. However, I failed to repro one hang. Excel 2003(11.5612.5703) works very well. Without one repro, I really
can't provide more assistance for you on this issue, so I list my repro steps below to see whether what I am doing is exactly the same to yours.

Repro steps:
1) start Excel and create one new workbook
2) input "EPFUG001" in the cell(A1) of sheet1 and fill it from row 1 to 100 (EPFUG001,EPFUG002, ... , EPFUG100)
3) copy the whole sheet1 to sheet2
4) rename the sheet2 to "copied"
5) In the copied sheet, change the "EPFUG001" to "EPFUC001" and then autofill all the 100 rows EPFUG with double click on the small right-down little
box
6) input any value into the cell(B1) of the column2 in the copied sheet.

Expected behaviour:
Excel hang

In fact:
works very well

It will be appreciated you tell whether my reply is correct. Please feel free to let me know if you have any further question.

I appreciate your response and I don't expect you to be able to reproduce it. Excel must have got into a position during my use of it that caused the problem. If I am able to repro it then I will re post, thanks for your assistance
