Everything underlined on destop and in folderdd. Help needed

I'm stumped. While typing in file names, I hit something that now has
everything underlined and hyperlinked, even on the Desktop, plus a folder
list on the left of the screen which can't be moved or deleted. I can find
nothing changed in the menus. I had this originally and got rid of it but
that was almost a year ago.

What did I do and what can I do to clear this up ? This is a HP Pavilion
computer, BTW. If this is not an xp feature, let me know, and I'll contact
those groups.

The underlines are probably caused by the folder setting in control panel.
To change it back, go to control panel, folder options and on the general
tab, at the bottom is the settings to enable and disable underlining and
single clicking. Not sure about the folder list.
