Error on paint

For a long time i havnt been able to use my paing. when i click on it, there is an error notice that says "Paint has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." when you ask for more info, it says "AppName: mspaint.exe AppVer: 5.1.2600.0 ModName: mfc42u.dl
ModVer: 6.0.8665.0 Offset: 00017103

when you ask for technican information it says "C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERAF.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt" will be included in the report

i have uninstalled and reinstalled this program but i, for the life of me, cant figure out how to get my paint back... help please.
 
Type Regedit in Start Run and delete this key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Applets\Paint
