error message " make sure cryptographic service is running

hi
have problems d\l the new patch for the worm but i keep
getting an error message saying "setup could not verify
the intergrity on the file update.inf. make sure the
cryptographic service is running on this computer"
have lloked at others that seem to be having the same
problem and have tried what the "kelly" suggest to do but
it does not work for me
if yous have anyother ideas let me know

You don't say what Kelly suggested, although we know most of the standard
replies :) Try the following:

Close IE, click Start, Run and enter REGSVR32 WINTRUST.DLL and click OK.
Then try Windows Update again. If that doesn't work, see
www.kellys-korner-xp.com/top10faqs.htm, Why can't I download updates, and
follow the steps listed there, for that error message. If those steps don't
work, then copy and paste each of the following commands into the Run
dialog, one at a time.

net start cryptsvc
regsvr32 softpub.dll /s
regsvr32 wintrust.dll /s
regsvr32 initpki.dll /s
regsvr32 dssenh.dll /s
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll /s
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll /s
regsvr32 sccbase.dll /s
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll /s
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll /s

Rename the folder windows\system32\catroot2 and reboot. That will
generate a new, clean folder, and you can then delete the renamed one.

Then get - only - Q817287 and install it, which should now be OK. It
is the cure for the problem: you should then be able to carry on with
other updates, and the problem will not recur
