Edit and save the attachment in the same email

My friend sent me an email with attachment for editing.

I want to open the attachment to edit and save it back to the same email and
then return back to him with the amended attachment.

I don't want to save the attachment as other file name or other location and
then attach it again for return.

Please advise how can I do.

In general, when you reply, Outlook will not include the attachment, since
you'd be sending it back to someone who already has it.
I don't want to save the attachment as other file name or other
location and then attach it again for return.

You'll be doing this anyway, so why not control where Outlook places it
while you edit it?
