Dynamic Library ntdll.dll Problem

When I try to open a new application I get a pop up message. I click to
close it a couple of times and it goes away and the application opens.

For example, when I click on the Solitaire shortcut, I get a message:

Sol.exe entry point not found. The procedure entrypoint
RTLISThreadWithinLoaderCallout could not be located in the dynamic library
ntdll.dll

I get similar xxx.exe messages for other apps. How do I fix this problem?
It was created when I had to do a restore to my system which is running XP
Home Edition.

Johm,

Run sfc /scannow from the Command Shell (dos prompt).
Make sure your Windows XP Home media (cd) is in the cdrom
drive when you do. This will check the integrity of your
system files and replace those that are corrupt.

Thanks for your response.

I bought my computer directly from IBM. I don't have a CD with XP on it.
IBM said the XP software is on my hard drive but the only way I can use it
is to completely reinstall XP which means I will lose all my data and
settings. I'd prefer not to go through all that if there is another
solution.

I am having the same problem. This was also done right after I did a system restore. Out of curiosity, did the system restore say something similar to this?...."the following files were not able to be restored and have been renamed..."

My computer tends to freeze alot when I play games so I went into the sys registry and disabled a few things to free up some memory. I didn't restart my computer before doing the system restore and I was thinking that this could have been the cause?

I also do not want to reinstall XP and am anxiously waiting for a solution.
