DVD writing from WindowsXP?

I want to be able to use the built in CD writing software in windows to copy
folders, erase disks etc on my DVD+/-RW drive. I have enabled recording on
the drive via 'My Computer' but it doesn't work. Is there a way to do this?

Dvd writing is not included in the cheesy XP disk writing software. Jym

Do you know of a good freeware effort that will allow me simple dvd burning
tasks like writing folders to a disk and erasing RW disks etc?

I would think one would of come with your dvd writer. I have been using
Roxio with my cdrw. Although I do not have a dvd writer , Roxio has worked
well for my purposes , and they also provide dvd writing funtions. Jym

Also ..... I could not find any free dvd writing programs , although there
are a number of shareware product. Jym
