DVD drive will not read burnt DVD+Rs

I have been trying to resolve a problem I've had since purchasing my Compaq
Presario R3000 notebook computer back in June, but to no avail. I have a
Toshiba ODD-DVD SD-R6252 drive, which will burn DVD+Rs and CDs fine (they
will play in DVD players and other people's computers), but they cannot be
read by my computer. Windows Explorer will not recognize that there is a
disc in the drive, and the drive will spin for hours without reading
anything.

To burn these DVDs, I have used Nero Burning Rom and RecordNow. I've looked
in several places online, including the Microsoft Support website, and could
not find a fix for this.

Media Player or Real Audio on my computer, but I have a program called Power

I had much the same problem with the DVD burner that came with my Dell. It
turned out that the drive was bad.
Did you try to load a commercial DVD?

I'm new using the news group and find it to be amazing

what do the long string of numbers mean that are
sometimes included in a response, ie, the one in this

Yes, I have tried using commercial DVDs, and they work fine. I think it
might have something to do with something called UDF, but I have no idea how
to resolve the problem.
