We really don't need to go thru this again. Please read the thread at the

We all know about the jackets! ;-)

They do get an "award." That includes a MSDN membership, which ain't chump
change in my book. And considering that the likes of Bruce and Carey, who
are definitely chumps, and don't deserve a f*ckin' cent, let alone being
awarded above much worthier & deserving people who were overlooked by MS,
I'd say that those MVPs like Bruce & Carey are over-paid!

Perhaps they do get paid but in the agreement they sign they are not allowed
to tell anyone?
Why?
Because if they did they would be held responsible for the answers they give
in the groups, and you know that cant be done in reality!

Wait, I live in Texas, why in the world do I need a jacket? :\

If you make the pilgrimage. ;-)

They are compensated, although not nearly enough for
the work that they do. No, the compensation is not
in the form of cash, let's just say it's some 'goodies', and
no, it's not nearly enough compensation for the good
MVPs.

I receive $100,000 (US) per year as a salary for being a MVP.

I receive a large vehicle allowance to be a MVP.

I receive numerous trinkets for being a MVP.

I have Bill Gates' personal phone number, as a result of being a MVP.

But, NDA prohibits me from talking about it.

I agree that the "good MVPs" are not justly rewarded for their good deeds
here by MS. But then there are many "good" posters here that have been
totally ignored by MS.

I'd say that those MVPs like Bruce & Carey are over-paid!

I agree with that comment wholeheartedly! Include Will Denny in that also,
as they all ride on the tailcoats of the MVPs who really learned Windows,
and created their own resources for others to use for self help.

I can name at least 10 people here who I feel should be paid (maybe get free
top notch PCs with all the goodies for their hard work), and tops on my list
is Kelly Theriot hands down!

They are compensated,

Hi,

"Compensation" was discussed at length in another thread. To be picky, MVPs
are not "compensated," they recieve gifts. It's very important to Microsoft,
in a legal sense, that we are not compensated, and the gift(s) we recieve
are below the tax limit for business gifts to be reported on US tax returns.

Hi Kurttrail,

Actually, there's a choice of a MSDN or a TechNet subscription.
