My pc is not working properly, It started after i
installed some updates. now it wont connect to the
iternet, it will dial up and everything but once the
passwords verified its still on the phoneline but windows
doesnt think its connected. Sometimes the connect to
option on my start menu isnt there.
Also the appearance settings are all messed up, its really
slow when it starts up. And flashes up a dial up
connection box when it gets going even though No programme
that would want then internet is running.

I stupidly hav no virus protection.

Hello Hutchy,

you may have a virus, but you can never tell for sure
until you scan for them. However, you say that you have
no virus scanner. There is really no excuse for not
haveing a virus scanner these days. Most virus scanner
programs such as Norton, Mc-Affee, Panda, NOD32, etc...
are fairly affordable and have good protection. There are
some free virus scanners out there. I use Avast! 4.1 Home
Edition. Avast! is free and for home and personal use and
can be downloaed from www.avast.com. There is also a
wonderful help forum on the website and everyone there
will help if you have problems.

Originally, I used Avast! as a temporary AV because Norton
expired, so I wanted still keep my PC protected. However,
after a few weeks of use, I was very impressed by the
program. So, I decided to keep it and it works
wonderfully.

Another popular one is AVG www.grisoft.com. I havn't used
AVG myself, but I see alot of people recommending it too.

I would at least install either Avast! 4.1 or AVG for
better protection. I really like Avast! and I would
highly recommend it.
