hello there ı just could understand your problem but ım
being a hardware tehnican ı dont recommend that you change
any settings for your dvd device because these devices
usally working in PIO 4 mode ever..in addition, you can
change the settings from device manager by choosing the cd-
dvd rom devices section in this case maybe this setting
needs to be made from the BIOS if this is so if you know
the BIOS setting you can simply setting up your dvd
setting from the BIOS..

Important note:THE BIOS SETTINGS ARE SENSITIVE TOO MUCH
AND IF YOU DO ANY CHANGES THAT YOU DONT KNOW PLEASE DO NOT
CHANGE ANY SETTING BECAUSE THEN YOUR COMPUTER MAY HANG
AFTER YOUR OWN SETTINGS.

That's just the thing. UDMA is enabled in the bios, bios
recognizes both drives as ATA 33, and Windows still
refuses to see the dvd drive as anything but PIO mode 4,
and the cd-rw as multimode dma.
