trying to format new floppy, unable to as states word
cannot format disc but uploads files from old ones ok.
Brand new disc, what to do ?

Okay, I assume you have purchased new (unformatted
floppies?)

Either way, if you want to format a floppy just it in
your A: drive and go to "Start" > "My Computer" and right
click on your A: drive. Choose "Format" and (assuming
it's a 1.44mb 3-1/2" floppy) click the Start button.

The only canned choices you might change are the Capacity
and Volume Label. Capacity is determined by the drive
and floppy disk you have, the label is optional.

nope, the discs I bought are already formatted, when
trying to format, word states discs are unformatted, when
trying to format says I/O error has occurres and will not
format discs, need to save work, getting desperate!
