Disabling firewall or opening a port

Tom S.

I'm trying to set-up a webcam for Instant Messaging. To
get a decent frame rate I'm trying to use Yahoo Messenger
Supercam. This tells me to disable XP's firewall, which
I don't want to do, or to open port 5100.
If I open port 5100, (and of course, the bad guys will
know that Supercam requires 5100 to be open) won't this
make me vulnerable to being hacked thru this port?
