I have about 2000 XP computers and about 1000 energetic students who
like to rotate the monitor display. I've tried to not allow the .exe
in group policies but learned these are only blocked if run from
Windows Explorer. I don't allow them to get to the control panel but
they can right-click on the desktop and get to the graphics
properties. I looked in the group policies to disallow the service
but the service is not listed probably because it's a graphics service
for that specific card. Any ideas how I can block this one exe for
all of my students?

Thanks for any help on this.

Yes. Discipline and half-grade drops for insubordinations. If they can't
be trusted to follow instructions in class, how do you expect them to follow
them in life?
And audits are a great way to pin down who did it, without having to have
personally witnessed it. If they gave away their passwords is an excuse,
that's another insubordination they need to be pinged for.

If I had a dime for every time I said this!!! Unfortunately the
teachers want us (techs) to resolve the problems. We know who does it
but times have changed since I were a kid which leaves me with trying
to resolve their issue.

Could you do this by restricting the desktop permissions? if you open
windows Explorer and navigate to the desktop, right click for properties and
the security tab and look at the user permissions. restrict ordinary users
to use but not modify.

If I was setting up such a large group I would start off by allowing read
only permissions for users and the find out what I need to add.

Additionally some cards, like recent NVIDIA do have a control panel in which
you can disable rotation: you then restrict access to the NVIDIA control
panel to the administrator.

Further to my message this is the way you can handle it in my Nvdia Control
panel
"

Lock Display Controls
Use the Lock Display Controls page settings to lock the physical controls on
your display so that these controls cannot be used to manually change any
settings.
