I have installed DirectCD form Roxio Easy CD Creator and
have the latest update form Roxio and the program works
great with drag and drop. I have formated the disk using
the Direct Cd format but when I try to back up programs
(ie Quicken) it always writes the data to the temp file
and not the CD. This has workd fine in the past but now
for some reason I can not skip the temp files when I back
up using Direct CD. It seems that Quicken will not trigger
the Direct CD writer. I also do not have an icon in the
tray any more. I have reinstalled the programs several
times but no help. Thanks for any tips.

It's a documented flaw in Quicken 2004. It worked fine on the basic release
and then something changed after the first update. You'll have to do like I
do....back up to the hard drive and then drag and drop to the CD.

As far as having the icon in the tray, you'll have to open up Direct CD and
look at the settings. There's one that allows icon in the tray.

DirectCD must be opened in order to use the CD-RW in read/write mode.
Quicken should not have to trigger it if you are correctly sending the
file(s) to the drive letter for the CD-RW unit.

It looks as if you still have the inbuilt burning running - it and
Direct CD would fight in this way, and installing Direct CD normally
disables the inbuilt burning.. Do so yourself - in My Computer,
right-click the drive, Properties and on the Recording page uncheck
'Enable recording on this drive'
