DFKai-SB, v3.00 - kaiu.ttf

I am looking for this font. According to the Typography
site, it comes with 2000 and XP.

I have checked an XP installation with "dir /s/a kaiu.ttf"
from the root of the system partition, and it's not there.
I have also tried a "dir /s/a kaiu.*" from the root of the
installation CD, but nothing is found. Did the same thing
with a 2000 installation and the installation CD.

How come I can't find the font in 2000 and XP? Is there
any means to get hold of the font?

Thanks for the reply.

I don't quite understand what you mean by wrong term.

The font DFKai-SB, v3.00 comes with with Windows XP and
2000 according to this page
(http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/font.aspx?
FID=240&FNAME=DFKai-SB&FVER=3.00), and has the file name
kaiu.ttf according this page
(http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/product.aspx?
PID=135).

At the bottom of the second page mentioned, it says fonts
installation depends on installation options. This font,
DFKai-SB, v3.00, is a Traditional Chinese font if I am not
mistaken. I have "Install files for East Asian lanuguages"
selected in the Windows XP installation, and a similar
Traditional Chinese support option selected in the Windows
2000 installation.

That font is not installed as part of any East Asian language pack
that I know of. Generally, the East Asian Fonts have a file extension
of *.TTC with the exception of simhei.ttf. Also each font file is
very large as it contains all the characters necessary for the East
Asian Language. (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, etc.)

According to this link;

http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/default.aspx

It shows up as you say in Win2000 and XP according to install options.
Sorry, I don't know what options would install that particular font or
how to obtain it. I do know, however, that it doesn't install with
the East Asian language pack.

I guess this boils down to my other question in the
original post. How can I obtain this font, preferably
through free and legitimate means?

Thanks,

Dan
