delayed startup after XP SP2 installation

Hello,
After recently installing XP service pack 2, I now get a screen on startup
saying "Windows is now starting" for about 30 or more seconds, then I can log
on as normal. Very annoying when you have a reasonably fast machine!

This never occured prior to SP2. During the installation of SP2 after my
first reboot, startup failed. To get my system back I used the Windows repair
tool on the original cd.

I've tried disabling the WIA service to no avail. Not sure what I should be
looking for in the event viewer?

Any help, or should I just try a clean install?

Sys info:
XP Home edition
Pentium IV 2.8, 512Mb Ram, Asus m/board
HP printer/scanner

Start | Run | Type: services.msc | OK |
Scroll down to and double click:
Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) | Set to Disabled |
Apply | If running, Stop | OK

WIA set to disabled, no change though?

I've just reinstalled SP2, and followed Knowledge base article 885626,
updated my bios and everythings back to normal!
