Joe

One of our senior group members has contacted me with this problem;

Recently, I have lost the capability for contacting people via Email links
included in either Emails or Websites.
When I click on one of these links the message :-
" No mail program is set up to send mail using internet shortcuts."appears
on my desktop.
Can you advise me how to restore this facility please?

He is using XP Home, and Outlook Express is his Email Program. I have got
him to into OE, Tools/Options and make OE the default mail handler, but
every time he does this when he goes back the option to is still there, it
just won't seem to hold.

I also got him to run sfc /scannow but that didn't fix it either.

Any suggestions please?

Regards
Joe

Hi Joe,

Great to see you here again and to know that you are still helping others.
:o)

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 urlmon.dll. Then go to:
IE/Tools/Internet Options/Programs/Reset Web Settings.

Set Outlook Express as default mail client - Start/Run and type in:
MSIMN.EXE /REG

Hi Joe from Tasmania, is this what you're looking for:

OE - Links out of Email

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run
2. Type the following commands in the Run dialog box, and click OK (or hit
ENTER) after each command (noting the space between the 2 and the next letter):
regsvr32 urlmon.dll
regsvr32 mshtml.dll
regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 browseui.dll
regsvr32 msjava.dll

Hello Kelly,

Thank you for your reply and your kind words. If it wasn't for you people on
here I wouldn't be much help to anyone though.

The problem was resolved using:

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 urlmon.dll. Then go to:
IE/Tools/Internet Options/Programs/Reset Web Settings.

Set Outlook Express as default mail client - Start/Run and type in:
MSIMN.EXE /REG

Thank you too Kaylene, it is greatly appreciated.
