Creating a ".icon" file

Hi,

is it possible to create a .icon file?

(or convert a GIF to icon?)

just find a decent app like paint shop pro and save the image as an .ICO

simple as.

OK, i have tried PSP & Photo Plus 8, but neither of them have .ICO

Now how do i create a windows icon? (like the "recycle bin" or the "internet explorer" logo)

As in, i thought that saving it as an icon would ork, but it dosn't, so is this possible?

if you save as an ico then all you need to do is right click the recycle bin -> properties -> checge icon. just browse to your saved ico file and select it.

that is what i tried to do with it, but got the error

"The file C:\\Doc...\logo.ico containes no icons, please specify a different file"

On that site, have you got any of the "boot screens"?

I like the look of some, but are they safe???

I don't like downloading stuff from sites, unless i trust the site.

They will also have to edit the startup, will this cause any errors?

i wouldnt bother with the boot screens.

i have had to reformat 2 times in the past because i messed up the installation...

They did look cool though, and i think its all done through the program StyleXP so its safe.

The site is safe to use, i use it all the time.

OK, i won't get the boot screens.

but i am interested in some of the wallpaper's (3,100 pages worth!)

There are some good wallpapers...

One tip, they are doing this ad thing - SOME (not all) wallpapers you need to download adware to get the pictures BUT if you right click and then "save target as" on the download link, you should see it will download the picture not the program. If not, try again until it tries to download the wallpaper instead of the application. Sneaky

KGB.. there is a piece of software called Microangelo where you can create, edit and mess about with Icon's..

on a search a result came up with this... "Microangelo the Grand Daddy of All Icon Software".... lol..
It's been going for a while this one is the trial version so i don't know if its of any use..

Failing that try any download site.. I belive its very popular..
