My Pc crashes when i run a game after about 10 mins. The
only games i have installed are GTAIII, the sims, and
baldur's gate II. My graphics card is a Riva TNt 2 . I
doubt its to do with CPU usage as it is only at 6 or 7%
now. I have done a Registry Cleanup and a ADWare scan,
and defragged this morning - any help is very appreciated.

thanks

I don't know if this will help your particular situation, but MS has an
update that addresses a similar issue:

327979: Recommended Update
Download size: 862 KB, < 1 minute
This update addresses the "Game Stops Responding (Hangs) or Quits
Unexpectedly When Introductory Video Clip Is Played" issue in Windows XP,
and is discussed in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) Article 327979. Download
now to prevent your computer from not responding during video playback. Read

I would try to install the newest driver for your graphic
card. Might be the driver. you should get it at nvidia.com

I think the clue is that the games run fine when you first start them,
but after some gameplay they crash. I think your video card may be
overheating, or you have some other overheating issues in your
computer. I'd certainly look at the video card first because the Riva
TNT2 is quite elderly. It is probably time to replace it.

Other possible problems:

1. Overheating of the CPU
2. dodgy power supply
3. RAM problem(s)
4. insufficient system resources (video memory, etc).

you have to work through this as a process of elimination. In broader
terms, I often find that heat and insufficient power supply are the main
causes of the symptoms that you describe.

May be overheating, lack of hard drive space for a proper swap file, or
somebody stupidly set a max on the swap file.

Hi Lee
I have a similar problem and cannot solve it either! I've just upgraded my
computer and after having XP running fine on my old system I am having
trouble with games.

It is a P4 2.8 prescott with 512 mg ram, 120 gig hdd and 9200se video.
Everything is running absolutely wonderful, DVD movies, Music, office
everything except games. I read up the database and it appears that drivers
for the AC 97 sound card may be effecting it but the drivers on my system are
all up to date according to XP.

When I go to play a game the system just re boots! Doesn't matter what the
game is from Freddie Fish to the latest DX 9 Games. Even the 3D pinball
plays on small screen but if I try and play on full screen the system just
reboots. When restarted the displayed errors are along the line of:

BCCode 10000050
BCP1 EEFFF38B
BCP2 00000000
BCP3 BFA56F65
BCP4 00000000
Osver 5_1_2600

Not sure what it all means have searched the knowledge base but can't seem
to find these errors, is there anyone that can help.

Regards
Daniel

First thing to do is disable reboot on error. Right click on My
Computer, choose Properties, Advanced, Settings under Startup and
Recovery. Remove the check mark in Automatically restart and while
there set the Write debugging information to (none). Then when the
system crashes it should dispaly a blue screen with error codes. At the
bottom if it's a driver it might list the problem driver. Post back
with the exact error message.
