Copying files in Windows XP Explore

I used to have windows ME and I copied my data files to Explore by cutting and pasting. How is XP different? It seems to put them in a temporary location and then you have to select them to copy to the CD RW. Also, it seems I am copying them as Read only and cannot overwrite them. What I am doing wrong?

Thanks

XP does not do packet writing on cdr/rw's. You'll have to install your third
party software that you use to burn cd's from the ME computer.(ME has no
built-in burning capabilities, had to be third party software)

XP internal CD burning does not work as a true drag and drop like you
had with a package like Direct CD or InCD in ME. You have to get the
successor version of that package. See http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpcd.htm
