I tried to copy my WinXP CD for a backup (okay with Dell) using only one CD
drive. I can't seem to create a bootable CD however. All the files transfer,
I think, but no go on the boot. My original boots fine. I'd use either WinXp
CD burning or Roxio 5. Thanks

When creating a bootable CD, don't use a file-by-file and folder-by-folder
copy process. Tell your CD burner to create a copy of the whole CD.
If unsure how it's done, read the Roxio help files.

If you are using a 'drag and drop' method to select the files that you want to copy, make sure that you set the viewing options so that you can see hidden / system files. That way you won't miss any key items.

As Pegasus says, just copying files, including system and hidden
files, will not produce a bootable CD. There are sectors on CDs,
floppies and hard drives that contain information needed for booting
that does not copy as a file. You must do a "one for one" copy which
copies each track without regard to files or directories. This is
sometimes refered to as an "iso image".

Yeah, I found the program that does what you say, created a disk and it's
great. Thank you all.
