Have high speed cable plus a dial-up connection using a
56.6 voice modem which has a separate SP and e-mail
address. Cable is default net and e-mail. Dial-up is
manual using COM3. For both I use OUTLOOK. This all
worked fine for some time, but now everytime I try the
dial-up I get a message saying COM3 is either being used
by another program or is not configured correctly. No
other programs (fax etc.)are running that I am able to
ascertain. Modem is configured correctly.
How can I find out which program is using COM3?

Key board and Scanner / Printer. I understand COM3 is not
a physical Port but is shared with COM2? Anyway problem
goes away for a minute when I de-instal modem then
reboot, allowing P&P to re-instal it, then problem starts
all over again!

Hello Mandevu;
You can check the IRQ's in control panel, systems, hardware, then click on
device manager, then view, resources by connection, then click interupt
request (IRQ).
That should get you the information you need.
