coloring my Index

Ron

using WIN/Word 2K,

I'd like to know how I can add color to the boxed index letter when I create
an index using Word's "fancy" format.

I don't want to color the index entries themselves, only the title letter
and box under which the entries fall.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ron,

I'm not certain if we're talking about the same thing, since I don't find an
option to create a *boxed* letter when generating an index (looking at version
2003). But Word uses a special style names "Index Heading" to format the
letters in an index. So you should be able to change that style's definition
(Format/Style, select the style name from the list, click Modify then use the
Format button).
