cmd.exe (16 bit) runs instead of cmd.exe(32 bit)

hi! My problem appears only on few of our company's computers. We have an application which among others copies a file from one directory to another. The issue is that for some reason in two computers (win 2000 and XP Pro) it calls the cmd.exe (16 bit) instead of cmd.exe(32 bit).

Any thoughts????
 
There's no 16 bit cmd.exe. There is command.com.

Can you give any hints. Check the comspec variable.
