chkdsk on every boot

My PC started to chkdsk (checking file system on D:) on startup each time.
It didn't do that before and I shut down the PC properly. As an expeirment,
I reboot the PC right after it finished chkdsk. It chkdsk'd like it never
did it before.

Is there a way to stop that? or maybe something wrong with my HD?

Thanks for the help,

There are two edits here one to enable ckdsk at boot and one to disable it.

Could well be that you have a bad HDD.. You might try running an HDD diag
available from the drive manufacturer website.. if the D drive is a physical
slave in the system, copy everything from it onto a directory in C (create
one), and then reformat D.. I know that drive manufacturers don't recommend
it but I would also be tempted to low level format (write zeros) the D
drive, then partition and format.. lastly, copy your files back..
